We pitched our trailer in a spot designed and set up for a 12’ popup unit. Fortunately we had help getting located and finally set up. I didn’t think we were going to get the slide extended, but sure enough, the guy knew what he was doing. Of course the dose of axel grease and the shoe horn helped a little.

We took lots of walks and met some interesting folks. The park had mostly long term residents and a few open “slots” available. All in all, it was a nice place to stay. A lot of trees and bushes for Barney to visit.

Sunday, we met up with Carrie and some other nuts at the Cheese Cake Factory in Santa Clara. Let’s see, Sue, Terri, Judy, her mom, Lorraine and Chester, Theresa, Eleanor, Carrie and Keith came out to meet us. I can’t believe this crowd.

Carol was looking for takers at arm wrestling and only Sue had the nerve. I don’t recall who won. I think it was a draw.

Theresa and Judy’s mom were so quiet,

Carrie was so sweet (thanks, by the way for setting this stop up).

Keith wasn’t quite sure what to expect next. I think we had a ball.

Monday, the 3rd was spent touring the area including Vallejo (where Michelle spent a lot of her past), Benicia, where she was raised and where her grandparent’s lived, and Martinez. Carol kept saying “I could live here!” I think she fell in love with the area. It is beautiful, close to the bay and a whole lot cooler than we had been experiencing earlier on this trip.

We had dinner with Mike Z (the owner of Champion) and his wonderful wife, Beverly.

I have to tell all of you, that these guys share the same relationship that Michelle and I share. They “Gotta get a room”! It isn’t often you meet a business owner who would rather talk about his family than business. It was a beautiful time together getting the know them both. They are both Champion users (naturally) and it and hours of working out keeps them both in great shape. I noticed Carol didn’t ask either of them to arm wrestle.

Michelle and I spent some quiet time doing laundry and “other stuff” by ourselves on the morning of the 4th. Mike had invited us to join them at a family gathering on the 4th. We had previously met his mother and she hoped we could come. More on that, tomorrow.

Thanks,

Don Curran

Halftime is over...

The conference ended so it’s time to pack up and head out on the northbound side of the trip.

We say goodbye to Toni & her mom. We will see Toni again, at the Champion plant on the 5th. Breaking down from a show is interesting in that the facility staff is in such a hurry to get home to their families, being rude and pushing the participants out of the way. 8 ( . Not a happy experience, but with good help, it is short lived.

All in all, I think the conference was a good one for us. A lot of interest and some very positive comments. It is good to see a continuing growth in attitude toward good nutrition, but we still have a great deal of work to do.

OK, enough business, on to tourist mode. We picked up Carol on Saturday AM and head toward Concord. Now this is normally an hour or so away, but Michelle and Maggie had other ideas. As Carol had not seen the Golden Gate Bridge, we had to go across. To get there, we had to climb up an over the “hills” that San Francisco is famous for. I think Michelle forgets we are pulling 29’ of trailer.

M: if we were going to go that way, ANYWAY, I thought Carol should see Golden Gate Park, Haight Ashbury area, the beach, the zoo and of course, Lombard Street.

We got there, but from the other side, it is STRAIGHT UP to get to the top. Not so good for us with trailer and no place to go at the top. So, I toss Carol out and tell her to walk up and then down and we’ll meet her on the downside. Barney was delighted with his lil walk to the bottom of the street and attracted quite a crowd by being cute.

We had lunch at John’s Ocean View Café. I would recommend it. It is on 47th Street, next to the Zoo. Quaint place, good service and nice food.

On the walk back to the car, I saw this bush with yellow and white flowers. God’s beauty even graces San Francisco. Guess I just like flowers and the beauty they have with in.

Needless to say we go all over SF from the Zoo to Golden Gate Park to Lombard Street.

Again, I am amazed at the beautiful homes. We waited at the bottom of the Lombard Street hill for Carol and had a chance to take in several buildings built shortly after the 1909 Quake. So much detail in these homes. I’m lovin’ it.

Hey, here is a business like ours. Working out of their home, just a different kind of home and business. LOL I wonder if they enjoy theirs as much as we do?

Well, on to and over the bridge toward Concord.

Thanks,

Don Curran

Being tourists in San Francisco

Today we are going to make Vitalady smile, ‘cause we are going touristing…..

We took the trolley downtown and met an interesting fella(?) Carol kept telling Michelle “Do not talk to this guy. He is just too weird”. I had to agree. Anyone putting on size 6 socks on a size 12 foot can’t have both oars in the water.

M: he warned me that Carol was gonna take my fella!

D: just goes to show how crazy he was.

Well, we head for the Fisherman’s Wharf to see the sights there. A midway kinda place was waiting for us with a carousel, which is the only ride I can get Michelle on.

We enjoyed dinner at Bubba Gump’s restaurant.

We had a great view of the bay heading toward sunset.

M: we also went and visited FUDGE, but didn’t rescue any to bring home.

D: not even for our staff (right!)

The ride back was less eventful than getting there as there was no one trying to make a fashion statement, with or without socks and/or shoes.

Thanks,
